NAD+ IV Therapy

NAD+ IV Therapy in Clifton and Tenafly, NJ

Consultation-based intravenous NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) therapy administered under the supervision of Dr. Jeffrey A. Weiss, MD. A clinical assessment is required before treatment.

Important: The role of NAD+ in normal cell biology does not establish that IV NAD+ provides anti-aging, cognitive, energy, or addiction-treatment benefits. This service is not a substitute for established medical care. Discuss the evidence, uncertainties, risks, and alternatives with your physician.

What Is NAD+ Therapy?

NAD+ and Its Role in Cell Biology

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every living cell. It participates in energy metabolism, DNA repair processes, and gene expression. Research in cell biology and animal models has characterized these roles extensively.

NAD+ levels decline with age and may be affected by chronic stress, poor sleep, alcohol use, and certain medications. Intravenous administration delivers NAD+ directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. Whether IV delivery produces clinical benefits beyond oral supplementation or placebo in humans remains an active area of research.

At Infusion Center of NJ, Dr. Weiss reviews your health history, current medications, and goals during a consultation before any NAD+ protocol is recommended. The consultation is the appropriate place to discuss what the evidence does and does not support for your specific situation.

What Research Has Characterized

The following describes established cell biology and areas of ongoing research. These biological roles do not constitute evidence that IV NAD+ infusions produce the same effects as clinical treatments in humans.

Mitochondrial Energy Metabolism

NAD+ participates in the electron transport chain, the process by which mitochondria convert nutrients into ATP. This is well-established cell biology. Whether IV NAD+ meaningfully improves energy in patients with normal mitochondrial function is not established by clinical trials.

Sirtuin Pathways

NAD+ is a substrate for sirtuin enzymes, which are studied in the context of cellular aging and metabolic regulation in animal models. Human clinical evidence for anti-aging effects of IV NAD+ is limited and preliminary.

DNA Repair Enzymes

PARP enzymes, which participate in DNA repair, require NAD+. This is established biochemistry. It does not establish that IV NAD+ infusions prevent disease or repair DNA damage in clinical settings.

Neurotransmitter Precursor Pathways

NAD+ participates in metabolic pathways that intersect with neurotransmitter synthesis. The clinical significance of IV NAD+ for mood or cognition in humans has not been established in controlled trials.

Inflammatory Signaling

NAD+ interacts with inflammatory signaling pathways in cell and animal studies. Human clinical evidence for anti-inflammatory effects of IV NAD+ is limited.

Substance Use Research

NAD+ has been studied in small trials and case series in the context of substance use withdrawal. Results are preliminary; IV NAD+ is not an established or FDA-approved treatment for addiction or withdrawal. It is not a substitute for evidence-based addiction medicine.

The Infusion Experience

What to Expect at Your NAD+ Appointment

01

Clinical Consultation & Protocol Design

Dr. Weiss reviews your health history, symptoms, lab work, and goals. NAD+ dosing is highly individualized — protocols range from a single infusion to a multi-session series. Your protocol is designed specifically for you, and the consultation is the appropriate time to discuss what the evidence supports.

02

Pre-Infusion Assessment

Vital signs are recorded and a brief pre-infusion review is completed. NAD+ infusions are administered slowly to minimize the transient side effects (chest tightness, nausea, warmth) that can occur when the infusion rate is too fast. Your comfort is our priority.

03

The Infusion

NAD+ is infused intravenously over 2–4 hours depending on your dose. Our infusion suites are private, comfortable, and equipped for a productive or restful session — bring a laptop, book, or headphones. Clinical staff monitor you throughout the infusion and adjust the rate as needed.

04

Post-Infusion & Ongoing Protocol

Dr. Weiss reviews your response after your infusion and adjusts your protocol accordingly — whether that means a follow-up infusion, a maintenance schedule, or complementary therapies. Individual responses vary; no specific outcome is guaranteed.
