Proposed Mechanism of Action
The exact mechanism by which Intralipid may modulate immune activity is not fully established. Current hypotheses center on its effects on natural killer (NK) cell activity and cytokine signaling.
NK Cell Modulation

Dr. Weiss contacts your REI or treating specialist to confirm the protocol, timing relative to your IVF cycle or embryo transfer, and any specific clinical parameters.
Pre-Infusion Screening
Allergy history (soy, egg) and relevant metabolic labs are reviewed. Contraindications are confirmed before your infusion date is scheduled.
Monitored Infusion
Intralipid is administered intravenously over approximately 60 minutes in a private infusion suite. You are monitored throughout by our clinical team.
Post-Infusion Follow-Up
Dr. Weiss provides a completion note to your fertility specialist and remains available for clinical questions. Additional infusions are scheduled based on your specialist's protocol.
Is Intralipid Right for You?
Intralipid is not appropriate for all patients. A thorough medical review is required before treatment begins. The following contraindications and precautions are reviewed at your consultation.
- Contraindicated in patients with severe egg or soybean allergy — Intralipid contains egg phospholipids and soybean oil.
- Contraindicated in severe hyperlipidemia, lipid nephrosis, or acute pancreatitis with hyperlipidemia.
- Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment, coagulation disorders, or anemia.
- Potential risk of fat overload syndrome with repeated high-dose administration — protocol timing and dosing are managed carefully.
- Infection risk associated with any intravenous procedure — sterile technique is maintained throughout.
- Specialist coordination is required — Dr. Weiss will not administer Intralipid without confirmation from your treating physician.
