Fertility IV Protocol
This IV contains antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, NAD+, and Glutathione that are geared for increasing egg quality. There are pharmaceutical options that may need to be addressed as well (I.e., Metformin for an elevated A1c and Synthroid for an elevated TSH) which we can test for through your insurance if you haven’t had it done yet (A1c and TSH). However, aside from a disturbance in your hormonal axis, the main cause of unsuccessful IUI’s and IVF’s is due to failure of a mature egg to bind to and initiate miosis in. While prenatals are the staple vitamin, often women who have difficulty conceiving are put on a slew of oral supplements (antioxidants like CoQ10, amino acids like L-arginine, Vitamins B, C, D and E, etc. It’s enough pills to fill a glass and yet only a single digit percentage (<5%) reaches an egg. Alpha Lipoic Acid “The Mother of All Antioxidants”
Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a naturally occurring fat and water-soluble antioxidant, which plays a significant role in several metabolic processes in the body. It is considered a “universal antioxidant” since it’s an antioxidant and contributes in the production of other important antioxidants such as glutathione and several vitamins. ALA is essential for cell metabolism through its effects on mitochondria (power sources of cells) and cellular energy production. Because ALA can pass easily into the brain, it may help protect the brain and nerve tissue.
Researchers are investigating it as a potential treatment for stroke and other brain problems involving free radical damage, such as dementia. Studies also support that ALA helps lower blood sugar levels. It improves insulin sensitivity and lowers blood sugar, helping diabetics by aiding in damaged nerves and arteries. It supports liver health and stimulated liver regeneration in cirrhosis or hepatitis. ALA has been used for decades to treat peripheral neuropathy in Germany. Its ability to eliminate free radicals and as a cheating agent, it may help people with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, who have pain, burning, itching, tingling, and numbness in arms and legs from nerve damage.
Intravenous route allows much higher doses of ALA to be administered, and research has found that higher doses seem to have an anti-cancer effect. ALA triggers mitochondrial respiration and may cause cancer cell death. The exact mechanism for this effect is not known, but in studies are promising.
Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is a substantial antioxidant in the prevention of diabetes and diabetes complications. It regenerates other antioxidants like vitamin E, vitamin C, Coenzyme Q10 and glutathione (thus ALA is known as the “universal antioxidant”). Numerous studies have strongly supported the role of ALA in treating diabetic neuropathy. Intralipid Infusions
Infertility, repeated implantation failure and recurrent pregnancy loss are among the most challenging scenarios in reproductive medicine. The causes often remain unknown, leading to frustration and stress. With egg quality issues, early pregnancy loss is common. We offer our anti-aging protocol to regenerate egg quality which many times allows one to avoid the need for IVF/IUI/etc. (See anti-aging infusion protocol.) When egg quality is not the issue, maternal factors need to be addressed. Natural killer cells are regulated by the immune system. In women who have autoimmune issues, the natural killer cells can react abnormally to an implanting embryo, treating it as an invading cell and signaling for the body to attack it. Studies have found that intralipids can help to deactivate the natural killer cells, allowing the embryo to implant on the uterine wall and grow normally and keep the natural killer cells deactivated until the pregnancy can override the signals being sent by the immune system. Intralipids help regulate inflammation and an overactive immune system and is far safer and cheaper than Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG). Our protocol is to receive this infusion 2 weeks prior to transfer and every 2 weeks until 24 weeks gestation (a viable pregnancy).
